influence undecided voters. (PRWEB) October 15, 2004 -- What is the hottest
new word in the 2004 Presidential Campaign?

Blog. The George Bush and John Kerry Presidential campaigns are using the power
of a relatively unknown Internet publishing tool to capture the hearts and minds
of American Voters.

Blogs, meaning Web Logs, is a seemingly unimposing form of publishing the
written word on the world wide web.

However, just like many web savvy marketing departments, the Presidential
Campaigns are feverishly blogging on a daily basis to inform, recruit and rally
their base.

Why bother? Because both candidate teams understand that blogging offers them
the opportunity to significantly influence their cause.

It was the political blogs in 2002 that helped bring down Senate Majority leader
Trent Lott. And, it was a little known blogger named Drudge that broke open a
story about an intern and a President.

There are also indications that there is a blogging phenomenon whereby there are
“leader” blogs that feed and influence follower blogs. This is done thru cross
linking and a syndication process called RSS. And in many cases these “leaders”
influence the follower blogs to post similar content that supports their
“leaders” position.

Both Presidential campaigns understand these phenomena as they disseminate
talking points that correlate with their email, and snail mail blasts to their
loyal following.

Additionally, more and more journalists and editors are reading blogs on a daily
basis. The campaigns are taking advantage of this with the intent of influencing
undecided voters to their side.

One thing is for sure. After this final debate; thousands of bloggers will be
pecking away at their PC or laptop doing their part in this revolutionary new
way to participate in the democratic Process.
